Who We Are: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive. We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 160 integrated programs in: Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than 65,000 individuals and families each year at our 90 locations, including 10,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.
CAMBA Middle school position will serve about 100 middle school students from September-June, following the school year calendar. The program will run 5 days per week for 3 hours per day every day that school is in session. There may be some programming offered on select school vacation days. The program will feature activities including supper, homework help, recreation, conflict resolution, creative arts, and STEM.
CAMBA Elementary school position serves 215 elementary school children in grades K-5. This program is funded by Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD). Program services are offered 5 days a week and include supper and socialization, homework help, academic enrichment activities, recreation, conflict resolution, and clubs. This program also features a partnership with Brooklyn Queens Conservatory of Music.
Position: Family Liaison
Reports To: Program Director
Location: Brooklyn, NY
What The Family Liaison Does:
- Manage the after-school office daily during after-school program hours.
- Participation in program activities as required.
- Monitor, collect, and compile daily and monthly attendance records of participants.
- Coordinate Parent workshops regarding CAMBA’s workshops and services.
- Perform clerical duties such as filing, photocopying and collating, order, receive, and maintain office supplies, answer incoming telephone calls, receive, sort, route mail and maintain files.
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. and/or equivalent experience
Other Requirements:
- Must obtain and maintain
- Dept. of Health fingerprint clearance
- Dept. of Education fingerprint clearance
- Doctor’s note certifying good health
- Proof of negative results from TB test
- Staff Exclusion List (SEL) clearance
- State Central Registry (SCR) clearance
Compensation: $19/hour
When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.
