Who We Are: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive. We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 160 integrated programs in: Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. PS 306 Ethan Allen Community School is as school based program that offers a strategy to organize resources and share leadership to integrate social services into the fabric of the schools. Community Schools offer a holistic approach toward improving academic performance driven by collaborative partnerships among principals, parents, teachers and CBOs. At the student level, Community Schools aim to increase student attendance, student engagement, development of social and emotional skills, and improve academic performance. At the school level, Community Schools aim to improve school culture, more actively engage families and provide seamless service delivery with partner organizations.
Position: Mental Health Counselor
Reports To: Community School Director
Location: 970 Vermont Street, Brooklyn, NY 11207
What The Mental Health Counselor Does:
The person filling this position is expected, under general supervision, to: (1) provide individual and/or group counseling services to assist individuals and their families to achieve effective personal development and adjustment.; and, (2) counsel clients in dealing with such issues as: behavior, educational progress, family dynamics, mental and physical health, housing, personal finances, substance abuse, mental and/or physical trauma, domestic violence.
Education/Experience Required:
Mental Health Counselor – Limited Permit (MHC-LP)
Other Requirements:
- Ability to obtain and maintain:
- Doctor’s note certifying good health
- Proof of negative results from TB test
- State Central Registry (SCR) clearance
- Dept. of Health fingerprint clearance (DOH)
Compensation: – $50,000 – $65,000 annually –
When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.
Status: –Full-time (35 hours per week)-
