Who We Are: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive. We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 160 integrated programs in: Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than 65,000 individuals and families each year at our 90 locations, including 10,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.
Evening ESOL Instructor Needed
CAMBA needs an ESOL instructor to teach part-time in person and on site at its Education Center, located at 955 Flatbush Avenue – Brooklyn, N.Y. The work schedule is 5:30 to 8:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. It is required that candidates have at least a BA/BS in education or a related field and at least 2 years of experience as an ESOL instructor; MA/MS preferred. Candidates must be familiar with Internet resources of relevance to English learners and be able to integrate technology and workplace skills into classroom instruction. Applicants who are BEST Plus Administrators, who have experience in computer-assisted instruction, who are self-starters, and who are highly organized are preferred. In order to be hired, applicants will need to submit contact information for 3 current/former work supervisors whom a CAMBA staff member will contact for professional/objective reference purposes. CAMBA does not accept references from family members, friends, relatives, or colleagues. Applicants will also need to do a 45-to-60-minute teaching demonstration in one of our ESOL classes.
