Arverne View (Ocean Village Recovery Project)

Arverne View is comprised of 11 buildings in the Arverne Section of Far Rockaway, Queens. There are 1,093 affordable housing units in the development. The development also includes more than 10,000 square feet of retail space and an onsite daycare center. CAMBA provides local residents with information and referrals to other CAMBA programs. We also work closely with other local non-profits providing vital services in the community for all residents.

Castleton Park

Through a building rehabilitation program, Castleton Park continues to provide 454 units of affordable housing at two addresses on St. Marks Place in the St. George community of Staten Island.

Gateway Elton I

Completed in 2013, Gateway Elton I is a $67.8 million, 197 unit affordable housing development in East New York, Brooklyn. CHV is the non-profit partner with Hudson Companies and Related. The project is a large, multi-building, mid-rise new development with affordable apartments and ground floor retail and community facility space that serves as the neighborhood center of NYC’s ambitious new Gateway Estates community. The project is part of the City’s Fresh Creek Urban Renewal Plan. Gateway Elton I closed in December 2010. The project contains 197 low-income rental apartments with 9,000 square feet of commercial space in 4 five- and six-story buildings. These buildings serve households earning up to 60 percent of the area median income (AMI), with 40 of the units reserved for households earning below 40 percent of the AMI. Gateway Elton I was built with Energy Star appliances, VOC-free paints, no off-gassing vinyl, and water-saving dual-flush toilets. The project is LEED-Silver, ENERGY STAR certified, and features a 214,000 watt solar power system. The solar panels allow Gateway Elton I to offset 300,000 pounds of carbon dioxide every year.

Alan Epstein Apartments (formerly called Gateway Elton II)

Completed in 2015, Alan Epstein Apartments is a $60.4 million mixed-use development near Spring Creek in East New York, Brooklyn. The project consists of three newly-constructed buildings encompassing 175 affordable housing units and 24,000 SF of ground floor/cellar retail space for a total of 202,900 sf of new construction. The project offers housing for a mix of incomes at various levels (40-60% AMI) to enable more New York residents to qualify — 60/20/20 mixed-income project at 58%, 48% and 38% AMI. The project was designed in block and plank by New York City-based MHG Architects and have a unit mix consisting of 40 studios, 45 one-bedrooms, 63 two-bedrooms, 22 three-bedrooms, 4 four-bedrooms and 1 super’s unit. Alan Epstein Apartments includes over 275,000 watts of solar photovoltaics, LEED for Homes and Enterprise Green Communities certification, and the highest level of energy efficiency and chemical free materials in affordable housing. Each building includes a common social room, laundry room, outdoor playground and parking. All buildings are non-smoking.

Gateway Elton III

Completed in 2015, Gateway Elton III is a $105.6 million, 285 unit affordable housing development in East New York, Brooklyn. The project closed on construction financing on June 27, 2014. CAMBA Housing Ventures, Inc. is co-developer with Hudson Companies and Related in the third phase of this urban renewal development. The project consists of two new construction buildings, generating 285 affordable housing units and an additional 45,000 SF of retail space. Gateway Elton III provides housing for a mix of income levels, at 60%, 50% and 40% of Area Median Income (AMI). Gateway Elton III includes rooftop solar panels, which when combined with Phase I & II brings the entire project’s solar array to more than 1 Gigawatt. Gateway Elton III participated in LEED for Homes and Enterprise Green Communities certifications, and achieved the highest level of energy efficiency in affordable housing.

Heritage House
