CAMBA’s Security Guard training program has a 26-year demonstrated track record of providing industry-recognized training and NYS credentialing leading to a pathway to higher wages and advancement in this growing sector.
Since 1993, CAMBA’s Security Guard Training Program has provided more than 7,000 low-income Brooklyn residents, a third of whom are women, with training to become Certified Guards, meet the New York State licensing requirements and begin employment in this growing field.
In 2018, 148 participants of the Security Guard training program received NY State Certification, and 73% of participants who received the Security Guard credential were connected to jobs, indicating a viable job market suited to our clients.
CAMBA is licensed by the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services to provide certification and training in the security field. Our NY State and Homeland Security-certified instructor has 10 years of teaching experience, including six years at the NYPD Police Academy.
Upon successful completion of the Security Officer Training, CAMBA clients receive their 8-hour and 16-hour security guard certificates. The curriculum includes such topics as the role of the security officer, customer service, effective communication, crime prevention, report writing, emergency response and terrorism awareness.
We provide double the required training hours because we’ve learned that students need more time with the curriculum and that hands-on assistance with the licensing paperwork means more people reach their employment goals.
