Supportive Housing Projects

CAMBA provides on-site supportive and security/front desk attendant services at 30 affordable housing developments serving more than 1,600 people each year. CAMBA’s life-changing social services provide safe, healthy homes for low-income and formerly homeless individuals and families with special needs including mental illness, HIV/AIDS, substance abuse disorders and other chronic and disabling health conditions.  Our services help them to maintain their stable housing and independent lifestyles.

​​Since 2005, CAMBA Housing Ventures (CHV), our non-profit development arm, has been building supportive and affordable housing for low-income and formerly homeless individuals and families. ​ CAMBA also provides on-site supportive services and security at permanent residences created by other partnering development agencies, including Dunn Development Corporation and Hudson Companies.

BROOKLYN:

880 Willoughby Avenue
880 Willoughby Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11221

880 Willoughby provides 100 studio units as permanent, affordable and supportive housing in Bushwick, Brooklyn, including 60 units set aside for individuals with special needs.  Amenities include 24/7 security, a large community room and roof-top conference room which is open to community meetings. Outside space includes a landscaped rear yard featuring Shona stone sculpture from Zimbabwe.  CAMBA provides on-site case management and support services funded by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. This mixed-use building, opened in 2007, includes ground-floor retail and has helped to spur redevelopment in Bushwick.

97 Crooke Avenue
97 Crooke Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11226

97 Crooke provides 53 studio units of sustainable, permanent, affordable and supportive housing in Flatbush, Brooklyn, including 32 units set aside for individuals with special needs.  Amenities include 24/7 security, a community and computer room; landscaped rear yard and roof terrace. CHV partnered with MTA to landscape an adjacent parcel into passive green space for the local community. Original artwork by local Flatbush artist is displayed along with Shona African stone sculptures. CAMBA provides on-site case management and support services funded by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Bergen Saratoga

The Bergen Saratoga provides 40 studio units in the Ocean Hill/Brownsville section of Brooklyn for special needs individuals. Amenities include 24/7 security, a community room with kitchen, a library/computer room, a tenant garden, laundry, and children’s play area. CAMBA offers on-site case management and support services including mental health support funded by the NYS Office of Mental Health.

CAMBA Gardens I
690 & 738 Albany Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11203

CAMBA Gardens was developed on the campus of Kings County Hospital in Wingate, Brooklyn in partnership with NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation. CAMBA Gardens’ two buildings are comprised of permanent, affordable studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom units for a total of 209 units, including 146 units set aside for individuals and families with special needs. Amenities include 24/7 security, multi-purpose rooms, gardens and roof terrace, computer room, and a community kitchen for nutrition and cooking classes. The building includes a rooftop solar panel system expected to power approx. 45% of common areas. We are proud to share that it is considered a National model for co-locating housing and healthcare facilitates to improve tenants’ health and stability by creating a partnership between a public hospital, nonprofit developer, and social services provider CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services funded by the NYC Department of Health and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

CAMBA Gardens II

CAMBA Gardens II is a continuation of the successful national model, creating an additional 293 units of affordable and supportive housing comprised of studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, including 182 units set aside for individuals and families with special needs. Amenities include 24/7 security, two community rooms, a computer/study room, and both indoor recreational spaces and over 60,000 square feet of outdoor recreational spaces, including a landscaped roof terrace, children’s play area, tenant gardening beds, walking paths and a Shona sculpture garden. CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services funded by the NYC Department of Health and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Dumont Green

Dumont Green provides supportive housing in Brooklyn for 33 formerly homeless families with special needs and three single residents, and affordable housing for 140 low-income households. CAMBA offers on-site support services including case management and programming, such as medical and mental health care coordination. CAMBA’s support services are funded by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and Department of Homeless Services.

King Gardens
211 Riverdale Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11212

King Gardens provides 66 affordable one-bedroom units in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, with 20 units set aside for individuals with special needs (ages 62 and older). Amenities include 24/7 security, a large community room with kitchen and laundry room, library/computer room and resident activity rooms. CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services funded by the NYS Office of Mental Health.

Livonia Commons

Livonia Commons is a supportive/affordable housing development located in the East New York section of Brooklyn providing 90 studio units with 30 units set aside for individuals with special needs. Amenities include 24/7 security, a large community room with kitchen and laundry, library/computer room, a children’s play area, and a tenant garden. CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services funded by the NYS Office of Mental Health.

Morris Manor

Morris Manor provides 46 studio units of sustainable, permanent affordable and supportive housing in Flatbush, Brooklyn including 27 units set aside for individuals with special needs. Amenities include 24/7 security, a large community room for residents and scheduled community meetings, a computer room and a landscaped rear garden. Morris Manor transformed a long-vacant City-owned lot into an attractive neighborhood asset and established a high standard for affordable housing in Brooklyn. CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services funded by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Prospect Plaza

Prospect Plaza is an affordable development in Ocean Hill-Brownsville which provides a total of 394 housing units in three buildings, comprised of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. Prospect Plaza Site 3 has a set-aside to lease to 27 families formerly residing in City homeless shelters under the Our Space initiative.
CAMBA, Inc. provides case management services via an experienced Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator assesses the needs of each family member of the 27 households, develops a mutually agreed upon referral and service plan with each resident to help ensure stability and to maximize each resident’s ability to live independently and monitors the residents’ progress.

Putnam Court

Putnam Court provides 59 units of affordable/supportive housing in in the Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, including 34 units set aside for individuals with special needs. The Rockaway Avenue Apartments

The Rockaway Avenue Apartments in Brownsville, Brooklyn, provide 64 affordable/supportive housing units comprised of one-,  two-, and 3-bedroom units, including 8 units set aside for families with special needs. CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services funded by the NYC Department of Health.

Rugged Cross Apartments

Rugged Cross Apartments provides 50 studio units of supportive/affordable housing in the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, including 27 units set aside for individuals with special needs. Amenities include 24/7 security, a large community room, built-in homework areas in the 2-bedroom units, landscaped garden and children’s play area, and off-street parking and children’s play area. CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services funded by the NYC Department of Health.

Van Dyke

CHV acquired and developed an underutilized NYCHA parking lot into sustainable, affordable, and supportive housing in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Van Dyke provides 100 one- and two-bedroom rental units for families, including 30 units set aside for families with special needs. Amenities include 24/7 security, a computer training center, two flexible community rooms for larger group activities and community meetings, and an outdoor landscaped rear courtyard and roof terrace. CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services funded by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

BRONX:

1212 MLK Apartments in the Highbridge neighborhood of the Bronx provides 54 units of affordable/supportive housing, including 17 units set aside for individuals and families with special needs. The building is comprised of studios, one- and two- bedroom units. Amenities includes built-in homework areas in the larger units, a landscaped garden and children’s play area. CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services funded by Dunn Development.

The Bedford

The Bedford provides 60 units of supportive and affordable housing in the Norwood section of the Bronx, including 9 units set aside for families with special needs. CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services funded by Azimuth. Families are referred by the Department of Homeless Services.

Highbridge Overlook

Highbridge Overlook provides 155 affordable and supportive units in the Highbridge section of the Bronx, including 40 studio units set aside for individuals with special needs. Highbridge Terrace

Via Vyse will open in Fall 2019 providing 121 affordable and supportive units, including 61 units set aside for individuals and families with special needs.
