Supportive Housing Projects

CAMBA provides on-site supportive and security/front desk attendant services at 40 affordable housing developments, serving more than a 2,000 tenants each year. CAMBA’s life-changing social services provide safe, healthy homes for low-income and formerly homeless individuals and families with special needs including mental illness, HIV/AIDS, substance use disorders and other chronic and disabling health conditions. Our services help them to maintain their stable housing and independent lifestyles.

880 Willoughby provides 100 studio units as permanent, affordable and supportive housing in Bushwick, Brooklyn, including 60 units set aside for individuals with special needs. Amenities include 24/7 security, a large community room, and a roof-top conference room which is open to community meetings. Outside space includes a landscaped rear yard featuring Shona stone sculpture from Zimbabwe. CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services funded by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. This mixed-use building, opened in 2007, includes ground-floor retail and has helped to spur redevelopment in Bushwick.

97 Crooke provides 53 studio units of sustainable, permanent, affordable and supportive housing in Flatbush, Brooklyn, including 32 units set aside for individuals with special needs. Amenities include 24/7 security, a community and computer room, a landscaped rear yard, and roof terrace. CHV partnered with MTA to landscape an adjacent parcel into passive green space for the local community. Original artwork by local Flatbush artists is displayed along with Shona African stone sculptures. CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services funded by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Bergen Saratoga

The Bergen Saratoga provides 40 studio units in the Ocean Hill/Brownsville section of Brooklyn for special needs individuals. Amenities include 24/7 security, a community room with kitchen, a library/computer room, a tenant garden, laundry, and children’s play area. CAMBA offers on-site case management and supportive services including mental health support funded by the NYS Office of Mental Health.

Boulevard Houses

CAMBA provides light-touch social services to special needs tenants in 54 units in this 1,441-unit development pursuant to the Permanent Affordability Commitment Together (PACT) Program.

CAMBA Gardens was developed on the campus of Kings County Hospital in Wingate, Brooklyn in partnership with NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation. CAMBA Gardens’ two buildings are comprised of permanent, affordable studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom units for a total of 209 units, including 146 units set aside for individuals and families with special needs. Amenities include 24/7 security, multi-purpose rooms, gardens and roof terrace, computer room, and a community kitchen for nutrition and cooking classes. The building includes a rooftop solar panel system expected to power approx. 45% of common areas. We are proud to share that it is considered a national model for co-locating housing and healthcare facilitates to improve tenants’ health and stability by creating a partnership between a public hospital, nonprofit developer, and social services provider. CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services funded by the NYC Department of Health and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

CAMBA Gardens II is a continuation of the successful national model, creating an additional 293 units of affordable and supportive housing comprised of studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, including 182 units set aside for individuals and families with special needs. Amenities include 24/7 security, two community rooms, a computer/study room, and both indoor recreational spaces and over 60,000 square feet of outdoor recreational spaces. The outdoor spaces include a landscaped roof terrace, children’s play area, tenant gardening beds, walking paths, and a Shona sculpture garden. CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services funded by the NYC Department of Health and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

CHV was awarded the Clarkson Estates development site in Flatbush through the Vital Brooklyn Initiative, a New York State community development program designed to uplift underserved neighborhoods in Central Brooklyn. The property was a one-story parking garage adjacent to SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Currently under construction, it will be transformed into 328 units of sustainable, permanently affordable and supportive housing coupled with 30,000 gross square feet of innovative, community-facility programming for residents and the community. Clarkson Estates will provide supportive housing to 59 formerly homeless families, 35 formerly homeless young adults, 35 youth aging out of foster care, and 35 formerly incarcerated individuals. Programming will focus on economic development and workforce training, youth development and violence prevention, adult education and financial literacy, recreation, and health and wellness.

Dumont Green

Dumont Green provides supportive housing in Brooklyn for 33 formerly homeless families with special needs and three single residents, and affordable housing for 140 low-income households. CAMBA offers on-site supportive services including case management and programming, such as medical and mental health care coordination. CAMBA’s supportive services are funded by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the NYC Department of Homeless Services.

CHV was awarded the development site for The Hart through the Vital Brooklyn initiative, a New York State community development program designed to uplift underserved neighborhoods in Central Brooklyn. The Hart is currently under construction and once complete will offer permanently affordable and sustainable housing, innovative community facility space, and programming designed to meet the needs of the community. The Hart will be home to a mental health out-patient center that also features a primary care facility and will be one of Vital Brooklyn’s 32 Ambulatory Care Centers.

Hegeman transformed two vacant lots in Brownsville, Brooklyn, previously owned by the City of New York, into transit-oriented, sustainable, affordable and supportive rental housing. Hegeman opened to become an anchor for the community at the height of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, just when the Brownsville neighborhood most needed affordability, stability, and economic activity. Hegeman provides 70 units of supportive, affordable housing with 42 units set aside for individuals with special needs. Amenities include 24/7 security, large conference room with kitchen, onsite laundry room, computer room, and a landscaped community garden. CAMBA provides on-site supportive services funded by the NYS Office of Mental Health.

King Gardens

King Gardens provides 66 affordable one-bedroom units in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, with 20 units set aside for individuals with special needs (ages 62 and older). Livonia Commons

Livonia Commons is a supportive, affordable housing development located in the East New York section of Brooklyn providing 90 studio units with 30 units set aside for individuals with special needs. CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services funded by the NYS Office of Mental Health.

Morris Manor transformed a long-vacant City-owned lot into an attractive neighborhood asset and established a high standard for affordable housing in Brooklyn. Prospect Plaza

Prospect Plaza is an affordable development in Ocean Hill-Brownsville which provides a total of 394 housing units in three buildings, comprised of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. Prospect Plaza Site 3 has a set-aside to lease to 27 families formerly residing in City homeless shelters under the Our Space initiative.
CAMBA, Inc. provides case management services via an experienced Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator assesses the needs of each family member of the 27 households, develops a mutually agreed upon referral and service plan with each resident to help ensure stability and to maximize each resident’s ability to live independently and monitors the residents’ progress.

Putnam Court

The Rockaway Avenue Apartments

Rugged Cross Apartments

CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services funded by the NYC Department of Health.

SIMBA SIMBI

SIMBA SIMBI will provide supportive housing to seniors 55+ when the head of household requires support due to an SMI and/or a substance use disorder. Of the 156 units, 48 are for 55+ seniors with special needs. NYC 15/15 PBV Section 8 Rental Subsidy.

The Van Dyke development in Brownsville, Brooklyn provides 54 supportive units, comprised of 38 single units and 16 family units for chronically homeless adults with serious mental illness. The development provides tenants and the community with a beautiful and modern site to access high-quality amenities and CAMBA’s supportive services funded by the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Van Dyke’s sustainability features include community outdoor green space, roof terrace, and landscaped spaces around the building.

CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services funded by Dunn Development.

The Bedford

The Bedford provides 60 units of supportive and affordable housing in the Norwood section of the Bronx, including 9 units set aside for families with special needs. CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services funded by Azimuth. Families are referred by the Department of Homeless Services.

The Bronx Grove is currently leasing 321 units (across two buildings) of much-needed, sustainable, transit-oriented, affordable and supportive rental housing. The development, located in the Bedford Park neighborhood of the Bronx, will provide 194 supportive units (49 studios, 78 one-bedrooms, 48 two-bedrooms, and 19 three-bedrooms) for individuals and families referred by HRA that include the frail elderly and veterans. Additionally, there will be two units for onsite supers (one unit per building) for a total of 323 units. Amenities include 24/7 front desk security, indoor bicycle parking, onsite laundry room in each building, computer and multi-purpose activity rooms, and a community kitchen. Outside space includes landscaped rear yard and tenant garden. The Bronx Grove is targeting LEED-Gold and ENERGY STAR certifications, and includes a 102.6 kW rooftop solar panel system on each building. CAMBA will provide onsite supportive services available to all tenants.

Highbridge Overlook

Arverne View is comprised of 11 buildings in the Arverne Section of Far Rockaway, Queens. There are 1,093 affordable housing units in the development. The development also includes more than 10,000 square feet of retail space and an onsite daycare center. CAMBA provides local residents with information and referrals to other CAMBA programs. We also work closely with other local non-profits providing vital services in the community for all residents.

Beach 21st Street

The T Building
