CAMBA and BIVO Host FDNY ‘Control the Bleed’ Training

CAMBA and Brownsville In, Violence Out (BIVO) recently hosted the FDNY and other community partners for the FDNY’s launch of a brand new training program, “Control the Bleed” — an effort to provide bystanders with the skills and knowledge needed to respond effectively when faced with life-threatening bleeding.

The inaugural FDNY training was held in partnership with BIVO at CAMBA’s Van Dyke Community Center in Brooklyn.

“‘Control the Bleed’ is a training program that is meant to offer regular New Yorkers the skills to help them help their neighbors in an emergency,” FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker said. “By teaching lifesaving skills, we’re ensuring that everyday citizens can respond with confidence when faced with life-threatening bleeding. This is critical, and it reflects our mission of protecting lives by equipping communities with tools to act before help arrives.”

Control the Bleed is possible thanks to support from the FDNY Foundation and a Department of Homeland Security grant.
